Extended Day
About the Program
The Taunton Extended Day Program is a non-profit, self-supporting program which operates under the auspices of the Taunton Public Schools. The program was developed as a result of school community awareness of the need to provide safe, supervised recreation for children of working parents. All elementary and middle school children who attend a Taunton school are welcome to participate, as long as there is space available.
The goal of the program is to provide a safe and well-supervised environment that is both educationally enriching and fun. The program makes every effort to provide for individual needs and choices, which builds a happy cohesive group. The curriculum is balanced between outdoor play, academics, and enrichment activities such as art, cooking, and dramatic play.
There will be a 2-week wait period prior to starting in the program. The wait period may be longer at the beginning of the school year and the beginning of summer. If you have questions, please call 508.821.1224 or email [email protected] or [email protected].
Update for Families 5/1/2023
Parents please see updated forms for the 2023-2024 school year. Families should drop off enrollment forms at the Summer St. School, 66 Summer St. starting Monday, May 1, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a $25.00 registration fee, a wallet size picture of their child and a copy of the immunization records. If the child requires an Epi-Pen and/or in inhaler, we require a doctor’s prescription and a parent authorization form before the child can attend the program. If the child requires an inhaler the doctor’s prescription MUST say that the child can self-administer the inhaler with verbal cuing from a staff person or the parent can write a note stating that the child will not need an inhaler while at the Taunton Extended Day Program.

Quick Facts
The AM Session runs from 7:00 AM until the start of the school day.
The PM Session runs from the close of school until 5:30 PM.
During summers and school vacations, the Taunton Extended Day Program is open weekdays from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
