Visual Art Students Win Awards

The Visual Art Department of Taunton Public Schools is pleased to share the winning student artworks in the 2009 Boston Globe Scholastic Art Awards. 

Six students from Friedman Middle School won awards for their drawings: Kenzie Foster and Rebecca Francis received an Honorable Mention while Meghan Avery, Leah Tinkham, Laura Kenney, and Samantha Phillips received a Silver Key Award.

At Taunton High School, Katherine Hackett received an Honorable Mention award for her terra cotta self-portrait bust entitled “Breaking Through” and Morgan Cremins received an Honorable Mention award for her mixed-media sculpture entitled “Twins”. 

Morgan also received the most prestigious Gold Key award for her Sculpture entitled “Idea Explosion”.
