2009 Thanksgiving Drive

Taunton Public Schools has once again risen to the task of making the Carmen Maldonado’s 2009 Thanksgiving Drive a better time for 80 Taunton Public Schools families. Thanks and congratulations for the work that Mrs. Helen Loura and Mrs. Mary Wohler did to assemble the fundraising, purchasing, and distribution teams that provided this wonderful service. Special thanks to the Taunton Police Department, Aaron’s Rental, Mr. Peter Farinha, Mr. Lenny Hull, and many others for going above and beyond the call of duty to make certain all turkeys were delivered in time to be properly cooked for Thanksgiving dinner.

The Taunton Community and the Taunton School staff contributed dollars, canned goods, and time to fund this heartfelt lesson in holiday giving. Principals and school staff identified the families who they thought would benefit the most from these Thanksgiving gifts. Sadly, the need for this Thanksgiving sharing has increased every year. Fortunately, Taunton’s desire to help and share has also increased every year. Taunton can add this event to the list of things that make Taunton a very special place. In the worst of times Taunton is always at its best.
