The Access Center provides support and mental health services to THS students and their families. Crisis intervention is provided if there is an immediate safety concern, and transitional support if a student is upset about something. There is also a school based therapeutic service that collaborates with major mental health agencies in the community to provide students with the best services available. Currently, there are about 20 mental health professionals providing ongoing school based therapeutic services to THS students. All of there professionals are masters level certified clinicians.
The access center can help students cope with grief management, anger management, and help with substance abuse.
The THS access center is a confidential space for students to talk freely about issues impacting their lives. The only time that confidentiality is broken is if there is an immediate safety concern. The same applies if you choose to receive ongoing counseling.
If you think someone is in need of the access center's services, you can refer them. You can do so anonymously if you choose as well. Students can be referred by their teacher, other faculty, another student, or themselves. If you are referred, a pass is sent to you requesting your presence in the access center. The access center's services are voluntary, they are not mandatory.
All therapists are seasoned and well skilled with working with the unique demands and challenges adolescents present.
The agencies that the access center works with are on call 24 hours a day for out of school emergencies.
