1. There are 3 promotion
cycles during each semester. Promotions depend on doing a good job, being
involved in the corps, demonstrating leader ship, and sense of duty. First
year Freshman and Sophmores start as AB (Airman Basic); first year Juniors
and Seniors start as Amn (Airman). Generally about 1/3 of first year cadets
will be promoted three times, 2/3 will be promoted twice, and almost all will
be promoted at least one time. Promotion rates will get smaller as you get
higher in rank. If you do not wear the uniform or fail to respect your classmates
or instructors, you will not be promoted.
2. To be considered for promotion,
you should satisfy the following participation and uniform minimum requirements:
Notes: Events are counted as either activities, community service, or fund-raisers.
A promotion board is made up of the cadet command staff and cadre.
First Year Cadets
1st Promotion -- 1 event,
no more than 3 uniform non-wears in the term.
2nd Promotion -- 4 events,
no more than 4 uniform non-wears in the semester.
3rd Promotion -- 7events,
no more than 3 uniform non-wears in the semester.
Advanced Cadets
1st Promotion -- 3 events,
no more then 3 uniform non-wears in the term.
2nd Promotion -- 7 events,
no more then 3 uniform non-wears in the semester.
3rd Promotion -- 4 events,
no more then 2 uniform non-wears in the semester.
3. The maximum rank for a first
year Freshman or Sophmore is SRA (Senior Airman); the maximum rank for first
year Junior and Senior is TSgt (Technicial Sargeant). The maximum rank for second
year cadets is TSgt (Technicial Sargeant) If you achieve the rank of TSgt and
meet the minimum participation requirements for advanced cadets, you will be
considered at the end-of-the-year promotion board. The board will promote you
to 2LT (Second Lieutenant) or MSGT (Master Sargeant) effective the start of next
year or keep you at TSgt -- if you are not promoted, you will be considered
at the next promotion board.
4. Third year cadets who are
promoted to 2LT, will have a maximum grade of Cpt (Captian); Third year MSgt's
will have the maximum grade of SMSgt (Senior Master Sargent). In the fourth
year, generally only 1-2 cadets will achieve the ranks of Major/Lt. Col. or
CMSgt. A promotion board will be convened to consider these leadership ranks.
5. Outstanding performance may
be reconized by SPOT promotions at any time during the year. Keep working hard!
6. The final promotion decisions
will be made by the SASI/ASI. |
