Over the summer, families received several forms in the summer packet. These forms are important as they outline some of our policies as well as request important information from our families. Please refer to the A to Z informational letter which details important information regarding East Taunton Elementary.
We ask that the following forms be returned completed to teachers as soon as possible:
Positive attendance is one of the most important predictors of academic success. Attendance includes arriving to class on time and staying until the end of the school day. Students are expected to be in their classroom at 9:00 A.M. Dismissal begins at 3:10 P.M. Please take this into consideration when making appointments. If your child is going to be absent, please call the main office at (508) 821-1330 to inform us of their absence. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Morning Parent Drop-Off is by the cafeteria. If students are eating breakfast at school, they may be dropped off at 8:30 A.M. If students are not eating breakfast, they may be dropped off at 8:45 A.M. For safety concerns, students are not to be dropped off at the front door unless they arrive after 9:00 A.M. If students are tardy they must be accompanied to the main office by an adult. Students who are tardy, require an adult to sign them into school at the main office.
We have several dismissal areas throughout our school. Van students exit through the Nurse’s Office area. Bus students exit through the front entrance. Parent pick-up students exit through the gymnasium. If the gymnasium is being used for an activity or event, the location moves to the cafeteria for dismissal. Please have photo identification ready if you are picking up a student.
We do not dismiss from the main office after 3:00 P.M. This is due to the amount of buses that we have in the front of the building. This can cause a safety concern.
If a student is being dismissed differently than their routine, please send a note to their teacher. We will not dismiss any student differently than their routine unless we have a note from a parent/guardian.
Thank you for your attention with morning arrivals and afternoon dismissals.
Our Incentive and Reward Program
We will continue with our positive behavior incentive program during lunch and recess. Students will earn tickets for following rules and demonstrating positive behavior during the unstructured part of their day. Students will be given the option of using these tickets at our school store. Students use our tickets as money in our school store. Students also have an option of saving their tickets and using them for admission to different afterschool activities throughout the school year. We are looking for parent volunteers that are interested in helping facilitate the school store. Please email Mrs. Bullock at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested.
Back to School BBQ
The Back to School Barbeque is scheduled for September 8, 2018 from 11-2. Please look for the flyer that will be going home in your communication folder.
Our PTO sponsors many family activities throughout the school year! They, however, cannot do it alone. You will be receiving a notice from them asking for classroom PTO representatives. This is an easy way for parents to get involved with minimal commitment. Please look for this information to come home soon. The first PTO Meeting is Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at 6:00 P.M.
