Strategic Plan

To create our new strategic plan, we worked with Attuned Education Partners and followed a clear, four-step process. We asked for input from almost 1,000 people in Taunton, including families, students, staff, and community members, through surveys, focus groups, interviews, and school visits. We also looked at district data and classroom practices to see what was working well and where we could improve. From this, we set four main priorities: rigorous instruction, student culture, talent development, and stakeholder engagement. These priorities will guide our work for the next five years and help every student succeed.

Priority: Rigorous Instruction

	For Students	We want you to have the best learning experience possible. That means your teachers will be getting extra support and training to make sure lessons are clear, engaging, and designed to help you succeed. Our goal is to give you every opportunity to learn, grow, and reach your goals.
	For Educators	Our priority is ensuring that every student receives excellent instruction. To make this happen, we are working together to clearly define what great teaching looks like and to provide the professional learning, resources, and support you need. When we invest in your growth as educators, we open doors for our students to learn and thrive.
	For Caregivers	Our goal is to make sure every student receives excellent instruction every day. To do this, we're focusing on clearly defining what great teaching looks like and providing our teachers with the training and support they need. This way, every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.

Priority: Student Culture

	For Students	We want your school to feel safe, welcoming, and supportive. Your teachers and staff are here to help you, and when challenges come up, we'll respond in ways that are caring and respectful so you can keep learning and moving forward.
	For Educators	Together, we are building schools where every student feels welcomed and supported. Part of this work is strengthening how we respond to student behaviors, always with care, respect, and strategies that help students learn and grow.
	For Caregivers	We are committed to creating a welcoming, supportive environment where every student feels they belong. We're also working with our educators to respond to student behaviors in ways that are caring and effective, so all students can grow and thrive.

Priority: Talent Development, Support, and Growth

	For Students	You deserve great teachers who believe in you and your future. We work hard to bring the best educators to Taunton Public Schools and to make sure they have the support they need to stay and help you succeed.
	For Educators	We are committed to attracting, hiring, and retaining excellent educators who share our dedication to Taunton students. By supporting you in your work and growth, we aim to build a strong team that stays and thrives together.
	For Caregivers	Our students deserve the very best teachers. That's why we are focused on bringing talented, caring educators to Taunton Public Schools and making sure they have the support they need to stay and grow here with our students.

Priority: Stakeholder Engagement

	For Students	Your family and community are an important part of your education. We're making it easier for families to get information and share their ideas, so everyone can work together to support you.
	For Educators	Clear, two-way communication with families and the community is essential to our students' success. We are working to strengthen these connections so families feel informed, heard, and supported and so we can work together on behalf of students.
	For Caregivers	We believe communication works best when it goes both ways. That's why we're building stronger ways to share important information with you and to hear your thoughts, questions, and feedback. Together, we can support every student's success

What's Coming Next

Design Year (2025–2026)
- Most of this year will focus on planning and design.
- Small working groups of staff, families, and community members will help shape specific initiatives, like our vision for rigorous instruction, student culture, and communication.
- Families and staff will get regular updates and chances to give feedback along the way.
Building the Foundation (Spring–Summer 2026)
- Staff will begin training and professional development connected to the new priorities.
- Plans designed this year will be finalized and prepared for launch.
Implementation Launch (2026–2027 and Beyond)
- Schools will begin rolling out the initiatives created during the design year.
- Work will expand into areas like data-driven instruction, new teacher mentoring, and multilingual communication.
- Families and students will see more consistent approaches to teaching, student support, and communication across the district.
Measuring Progress
- The district will track progress through clear goals—for example, reading growth in grades K–2, MCAS performance, graduation and college-going rates, student well-being, suspension rates, staff retention, and family satisfaction.
- Updates will be shared regularly so families, students, and staff can see how we’re moving forward together.
