Q: Are Taunton Public School (TPS) employees paid weekly or biweekly?

Q:Why do the earnings on my W2 form not match the gross earnings on my last check in December?

Q:How can I reset my password in Frontline and/or Employee Forward?

Q: I am a new teacher and was hired after the start of the school year. I think my pay is incorrect because when I multiply by gross biweekly amount by 26 payments, the total salary is much lower than the salary in the contract.

A: Employees who are hired after the beginning of the school year and are paid biweekly cannot calculate their annual salary by multiply their gross biweekly amount by 26 payments because that only applies for staff who receive all 26 payments.

If you start after the beginning of the school year, your annual salary is calculated by multiplying your per diem rate by the actual number of days you will be working. Then, we divide your actual annual salary by the number of payments you will receive. This amount is your gross biweekly amount.

Q: Will I receive a salary increase every year?

Q: What Pension Plan do I belong to and how do I know that I am enrolled?

A:

Anyone hired to a position which requires licensure by the Massachusetts Department of Education (DESE) will be enrolled in the Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement System (MTRS).
If your position does NOT require you to have a DESE license, you will be enrolled in the Taunton Retirement System, provided that you are a permanent employee working at least 20 hours per week.
If you are hired to a position of less than 20 hours or are hired to a position on an “as needed” basis, you will be enrolled in OBRA.
New members of the Taunton Retirement Board must complete their enrollment prior to starting their positions. Members of MTRS will be registered with them by the Payroll Department; however, you must complete the Enrollment process by following the instructions you will receive in an email sent to you by MTRS shortly after your appointment. Please note – the MTRS email may be sent either to your personal OR school email address.

Q: Where can I see my Paystubs?

A: All TPS employees have access to their paystubs, pay history and W2s by logging into their Employee Forward account at www.employeeforward.com.

When a new employee’s information is entered into the Payroll Software by the city Treasurer’s office, the employee will receive an invitation email from Employee Forward which contains a link to create an account. Once you have created your account, you will have access to your payroll information.

Please note – the Employee Forward email will be sent to your personal email address.

Q: Will I be given any sick/personal/vacation time?

Q: Where can I find out what other benefits I am eligible for?

Q: What do I do if I am going to be absent?

A: All TPS employees are required to enter their absences in Frontline, the district’s Absence Management System. When the Payroll Department enters new employees into Frontline, an invitation email containing a link to create an account will be sent to your TPS school email address. Once you have created your account, you can start entering your absences, see your accumulated balances, see any past absences and any pending absences by going to https://app.frontlineeducation.com OR by using the Absence Management link located on the TPS website under Staff.

In addition to entering your absences in Frontline, please refer to your building Principal/Supervisor for additional building requirements regarding absences.

Q: I am scheduled for Jury Duty, what do I need to do?

A: Please enter your Jury Duty absence in Frontline when you receive the Summons in the mail. Then, when you call the night before to confirm whether you must go or not, do the following:

i. If you do not have to go, then DELETE the absence in Frontline. If you are unable to delete the absence, please inform the school secretary so that she can make the adjustment.
ii. If you do have to serve, you must submit the Employer’s Copy of the Juror Service Certificate to the school or department secretary once you receive it in the mail about a week or two after serving. The school or department secretary will send the form to the Payroll Department. Failure to submit the form will result in charging you a personal day.

Q: How do I change my address and/or name?

A: Employees must update their information with the Payroll Department within 30 days of the change.

For address changes, please fill out a Change of Name/Address form and hand the completed form to your school secretary. They will submit the completed form to the Payroll Department.
Name changes must be done in person at the Payroll Office located at the E Pole School. Please fill out a Change of Name/Address form, then contact the Payroll Department to schedule an appointment. Please bring the change form, the original copy of the legal document showing the name change, i.e., Marriage Certificate, Divorce Decree, etc,, and your new Social Security Card.

If you hold a DESE license, please remember to change your name with them as well. In addition, if you have requested or are planning on requesting reimbursement (mileage or courses) through our Accounts Payable Department, please contact them to fill out a new W9 form.
