Allergies & Dietary Accommodations
Taunton Public Schools works with caregivers, healthcare providers, school nurses, and the Food Services Department to support students with allergies and dietary needs.
Providing accurate health information helps schools prepare to support students safely during the school day.
Reporting Allergies
During student registration, caregivers should report all allergies and medical conditions in SchoolMint. Providing accurate and complete information helps schools understand a student's needs and plan appropriate supports.
If a student develops an allergy or receives a new diagnosis after registration, caregivers should contact the school nurse as soon as possible.
Documentation
Allergies and other medical conditions may require documentation from a healthcare provider. Caregivers should provide updated documentation whenever there is a change in a student's medical needs.
Additional documentation may be required to support dietary accommodations or other health-related supports provided during the school day.
Dietary Accommodations
Some students may require dietary accommodations due to allergies or other medical conditions. School nurses and School Meals staff work together to support students' documented dietary needs and help ensure appropriate accommodations are provided when necessary.
Caregivers with questions about dietary accommodations should contact their student's school nurse.
Nutrition & Allergen Information
Taunton Public Schools publishes nutrition and allergen information through LINQ Connect. Caregivers can view ingredients, nutrition facts, and common allergens by selecting individual menu items on the breakfast and lunch menus.
Caregivers of students with food allergies or dietary restrictions should review menu information regularly and contact their student's school nurse with any questions about allergy management or dietary accommodations.
