Capital improvement projects help maintain, modernize, and enhance district facilities across Taunton Public Schools. These investments support safe, accessible, and effective learning environments through building upgrades, infrastructure improvements, technology enhancements, playground projects, athletic facility improvements, and other capital investments.

The district's Capital Improvement Plan identifies completed projects, current priorities, and future facility needs across schools and operational departments. Use the information below to learn more about recent improvements, future priorities, and major district initiatives.

Recent District Improvements

Recent capital improvement projects have included:

  • ADA-accessible playground installations at schools, including East Taunton Elementary School and Elizabeth Pole Elementary School.
  • Roof replacement projects and exterior building improvements at schools, including Friedman Middle School and Chamberlain Elementary School, supporting the installation of solar energy systems.
  • Security vestibules, access control systems, and security upgrades at schools across the district.
  • HVAC and building systems improvements at multiple schools and operational facilities.
  • Athletic facility enhancements, including improvements to Aleixo Stadium and Jack Tripp Softball Field.
  • School meals, technology, library, and learning space improvements throughout the district, including upgrades at Taunton High School and other district buildings.

Future Priorities

The Capital Improvement Plan identifies capital investments and facility needs anticipated over the next five years that will help maintain and improve district facilities across Taunton Public Schools.

Major District Initiatives

John F. Parker Middle School Relocation Project

Taunton Public Schools is preparing for the relocation of John F. Parker Middle School to 2 Hamilton Street, the former Coyle & Cassidy High School and Middle School campus. The project is the result of a community planning process that included public surveys, stakeholder feedback, and community forums to determine the future use of the property.
