Budget Priorities

Maintaining Student Programs and Services

The FY27 budget maintains current staffing levels and student programming across the district, allowing Taunton Public Schools to continue providing the services, supports, and learning opportunities available to students without reductions.

Expanding Early Learning Opportunities

FY27 marks the first year of free full-day PreK in Taunton Public Schools. While enrollment remains limited by available seats, the program helps remove financial barriers for caregivers and provides more students with access to high-quality early learning experiences before entering kindergarten.

Investing in Teaching and Learning

The FY27 budget includes a three-year investment in Wonders, the district's English Language Arts curriculum for students in PreK through Grade 5. This investment supports consistent, high-quality literacy instruction and provides updated instructional resources for students and educators.

How Budget Resources Are Invested

Most district spending supports the people and services that work directly with students. Salaries account for the largest share of the budget because schools rely on teachers, counselors, nurses, paraprofessionals, custodians, cafeteria staff, technology staff, and other employees to support students each day.
